Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Hi there, I have read all posts here about this issue but I didn't found any solution for my problem. I have an VPN account on local network to connect to the internet which includes username and a password. This works fine with win, both with pptp or l2tp but when it comes to Linux then it's not so easy. I have installed the pptp for Linux, I even read the howto from linuxquestions which talks about setting up pptp server and client on Slackware. I used webmin module to create a VPN account and I successfully established a connection. However, at first I can open only some web sites such as google or so and after very short time somehow the traffic stops totally so I can't open anything although the VPN connection is still running. The VPN server on the local network is mikrotik. I must say I'm not very familiar with VPN, I'm better with pppoe which for me works out of a box. I also noticed very strange thing that when I try to connect to VPN, after that I can't connect with rp-pppoe directly to my ISP or vice versa. I have the same username both in VPN and pppoe accounts and somehow ppptp mixes the passwords which are not same so I need to correct that every time in pptp or pppoe configuration.
