I have two machines, one is running windows xp and the other running knoppix. I've downloaded and installed vnc on both computers, and I can access windows from the knoppix machine, but not the other way around. Most recently I've tried pinging the knoppix machine from the windows machine but I get a "request timed out" message. When I try and use the vnc viewer from windows I get a "unable to connect to host: Connection timed out (10060)"
I'm also a total newb. I just read a tutorial on the basics of using bash today, so that's about the extent of my knowledge.
Currently I'm trying to run the server from home/bdayton/vnc but I've also tried running it from usr/local/bin where vncinstall put it, although I had to create a bin directory to do this. I've tried to run the server from usr/local/bin/vnc and got the same message.
BTW I just tried pinging the windows computer from the knoppix computer and it works fine.
