vmware takes over my network

Hi all,

I have an issue where vmware server is resetting all of my network settings. I have it installed on top of a linux system, and I am talking about it making changes in the linux system on which it is installed, not on a virtual machine it is running. When I first installed vmware server I had my box set up for dhcp, but I switched over to a static ip shortly after. Ever since then I have been having problems. I know that my linux box is set up correctly because ifdown and ifup bring the network up and I have my static Ip, just as I want and need, but when vmware starts it changes the ip! Looks like it gets a dhcp address(but its also is the one that I had when I did the install). I have tried reconfiguring vmware but it still inists on taking over my network settings. Can any one suggest how to get vmware to leave my settings alone? I'd rather not do a complete reload because I don't want rebuild my virtual machines.

Thanks in advance

try going to the vmware setting and check if its bridged directly to your network or it uses nat
