VLAN Advertisement


Hi,
How does "advertisement" works in a vlan context?

Advertisement in any networking concept discussion just means letting other nodes know it's there. For example, when you plug a nic into a switch, the NIC advertises it's mac address and the switch replies. Usually this is just LLC information or STP information.
