Virtual hosts setup

Hi everyone

Please assist, me urgently with this problem, I just configured virtual host server in my linux server. When trying to access it (the open source (SugarCRM) application running on) it, its giving me the error message that i am not connected to internet. I have restarted apache by no luck. But when i add that server's IP Address in /etc/hosts (as 10.3.4.249) i can be able to access this application. Actually where can i add this permanently on the server so that everybody can be able to access it. Can someone pls shed a light what have i missed out please.

Thanx in advanced.
