Ok I use Mandrake 9.1, and have a NetGear MA101 set up and working fine. I have several other comps on my network, all running windows. What I want to do is view them, but I have no idea how. I can ping them successfully though.
I have tried samba and in Mandrake Control Center it returns no other computers when I search for them.
i really have no idea how to go about this though.
also is this dangerous to the other comps harddrives? any possibilty of corruption?
The easiest way to get Windows browsing running on a Linux box is to install LinNeighborhood... www.bnro.de/~schmidjo/
There isn't any more danger to your other computers than if you were accessing them from another Windows box. The host computer controls it all, the accessing computer just makes requests. It's like calling somebody on the phone and asking them to write something down for you.
