VIA Drivers?
I have a dedicated computer for Linux now
The only problem is that the built in LAN for the Abit-KD7A driver's for Linux are not working. So, I would like to get the latest ones. I looked on the VIA website and found nothing for Linux, same with Abit's website. Can someone find them for me? Thanks ahead of time. |
What does the output of /sbin/lspci show for your Ethernet Controller?
the via rhine chipsets are very well supported with the standard rhine driver. you will not get better support for it from anywhere else
rhine is what the CD comes with. I installed it and everything went down fine, but then I try to ismod it, like it says in the directions, it says that I can't because it doesn't exist.
there is no install needed, rhine is a standartd kernel driver and has been for years now
So, it's already included?
yep.
Well, I just checked the network interfaces in Kinfo Center and it says that I have no ethernet device.
Is there a way to modprobe it or something? |
you'd just do a "modprobe rhine" and it'll load
"Can't load module rhine"
check your dmesg output for any errors during the load, additionally you initally said you installed it from somewhere else, assuming this is the same driver, you may have damaged the installation. as mentioned above an "lspci" output here wouldn't go a miss to be on the safe side.
