Very silly DNS Problem

I think I'm being really stupid - it seems I have a complete mental block when it comes to DNS.

I have a simple scenario - just installed Fedora 2 on a machine connected to a LAN which access the internet through an ADSL modem ie after the default install using DHCP the fedora machine has internet access and the network settings include the DNS settings for my ISP.

I just want to know how to make it the DNS server for my Windows PC.

Any useful pointers would be much appreciated, thanks.

Firstly, you need to run the named service, which is a nameserver. You may also need to set up named to use the appropriate DNS server(s) from your ISP.

Next, you need to set up Windows to use your Linux machine as the nameserver. You can do this by specifying manual settings in Linux, or by setting up a DHCP server on the Linux box, and leaving Windows on manual settings.

thanks for the pointers - found an article which explained things enough. Windows can now do dns via the linux machine. Problem solved.
