Using Linux as a firewall/gateway

Hi,
I am currently using an SMC 7004VBR as a firewall/gateway. I am having a problem with NAT on it. I wanted a recommendation on a good firewall/gateway software that I can put on a linux box with 2 NIC's and use it as a firewall-router/gateway. I need it to support NAT. (Yes I am a newbie).
Thanks.

Also. This is the cofig that I need

http://www.dovid.net/images/ast_graph.jpg

As of now I have CABLE. I may switch to PPOE so I need that option open. The asterisk server needs the following ports forwarded to it 22(TCP), 5000-6000 and 10000-20000 (UDP). So I need to NAT all of those ports to the asterisk server. I need all other ports to be blocked on NIC1.
