username could not be found - samba

I have set up a samba server on RH9, using Samba 3.02. Everything (almost) is working and I have several workstations connected including Xp, 98 and 2000 machines.
My problem is that 2 machine won't connect, when I try to join them to the domain I get an error "username could not be found". I have added the machine account names manually, and retried using different names - to no avail.
Both machines are XP SP1 - I have 4 others joined with the same OS.
Any ideas?

My smb.conf file globals are:

# Samba config file created using SWAT
# from 0.0.0.0 (0.0.0.0)

Have you added the usernames/passwords of the relevant users (on both ends) to smbpasswd? man smbpasswd for instructions.

Yes, I have added them as Unix users and smb users. The thing that has me confused is that I have connected 6 other computers, with a mixture of Win 98, 2000 and XP.

Thumbs up

Insert following line into your smb.conf file and you will get rid of this problem , surely

add machine script = /usr/sbin/useradd -s /bin/false -d /home/nobody %u

Thumbs up mr. itsmujtaba Thank You!

Thank you very much. Worked like a charm...
Now I have a different problem... but I will post if I don't find an answer.

I bow very deeply in your direction.
