User rights

Could someone help me with a user rights issue. I have set up a counter-strike server and am currently running three servers off of it. I need to give people ssh and sftp access to the server but I only want them to have read and write access to certain directories. currently anyone with a user name can see everything and download everything but no one can upload anything. I just want to give them access to the entire half life directory and when they log in it goes there instead of to their desktop.

Your looking for chroot and making their default home directories to your specific directory when creating their account.

man chroot
man useradd

Ummm.

I had already created the users. also when I run chroot it says
[root@localhost rcoman]# chroot
bash: chroot: command not found
[root@localhost rcoman]#

man and info chroot work though.

Since the user already exsists how do I modify what he can see and what he can write.
