use my file server communicate between two networks?
My network setup is like this:
T1 shared between two networks - the networks are not connected however they are in the same office. they are on seperate subnets and switches..
They dont talk.
network1 has Debian (4.0) which is basicly just a file server and nothing else.
network2 would like access to Debian...
i was considering throwing another network card in the Debian box and plugging it into network2..
that part is easy - then both can see the shares on Debian..
however, ideally, i would also be able to route traffic between the two networks with the Debian box as well..
is this possible?
can i setup gateways or routes on my windows machine on network1 to use the Debian box as a 'gateway' for network2 ?
the two watchguard firewalls dont talk to eachother remember.
each has its own wan port configured for its own ip address, then each has its own lan port..
what you are saying is possible though, i can have just one watchguard and have one port of the watchguard be for network1 and one for network2.. however that wouldn't be ideal at this moment as there are a lot of other factors that are in play.
so i am trying to use my fileserver with 2 nic's , one on each network for this.

The packets will go to the 16 port switch and then to other network.
