Smile Unable to ssh to the IP of a newly created VM

Hello Techies,

I have an ODA(Oracle database appliance) machine on which I have created a VM and assigned a private IP address to it. However when I try to access this virtual machine using ssh from others the message I get is:

ssh 192.168.xx.xx
ssh: connect to host 192.168.xx.xx port 22: No route to host

I also can't ssh any other machine from this newly created VM.

PING 192.168.xx.xx (192.168.16.30) 56(84) bytes of data.
From 192.168.yy.yy icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable
From 192.168.yy.yy icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable
From 192.168.yy.yy icmp_seq=4 Destination Host Unreachable
From 192.168.yy.yy icmp_seq=6 Destination Host Unreachable
From 192.168.yy.yy icmp_seq=7 Destination Host Unreachable

I have even stopped iptables services on the new VM.

here's my output for "ifconfig" on the VM:

What ssh configuration or interface configurations needs to be done in order to be able to ping or ssh this VM??

Thanks for your time

first of all on which system what vm you are running. and what vm interface you assigned to machine does that interface have same range? or is it nated interface? and at last may be your phisical machine's iptables configuration not allows you to ssh on virtual machine.

Are both hosts on the same subnet? Your VM only knows the route to IP addresses on its subnet so if the other host is on a different subnet then they won't talk to each other. What are the full IP addresses of both? They are private IP addresses anyway so there is no need to hide them if they start with 192.168.

Hello Guys,

Thanks for your response, I managed to solve my problem by configuring my public IP address instide of 192.168 range of IP. I configured this public IP on my DNS servers and now I am able to ssh this VM.

Thanks again for your suggestions!
