unable to configure network card

I have a wireless card I installed on my laptop on suse 10.3 the card is: Atheros and seems to be supported by Linux I get this: Ethernet Network Card (not connected) BusID: 000:06:05.0 the message I get in Yast is "unable to connect network card because kernal device is not present" My kernal version is: 2.6.22.5-31 thanks to anyone who can help!!
