Latest news. I have just discovered that I cannot ping IP numbers either. For some reason I thought I could. So probably not a DNS problem.

Sorry I lost track of this thread for a while. Did you manage to find pon? It's in a package called ppp. There may be a version number attached to it as well. You can find it at [url]www.rpmseek.org[/b].

You did try the "usepeerdns" option, right? You implied you did but did it have any benficial results?
