UMTS internet connection slow

Hello to everyone,

I was using a GPRS mobile phone to connect to the internet. To do so, I had to create a link, /dev/ttyACM0 /dev/modem and that worked fine with KPPP. Yesterday I bought me a UMTS mobile phone and connecting it to the USB port works just without modifying nothing else, except from the connection speed from KPPP, setting it to maximum. So now, I have download speed 20KB/s, while with my GPRS mobile phone I was downloading maximum 6KB/sec. But I thought that UMTS could reach like 50KB/sec. On KPPP maximum connection speed I can set is 460800. Is there any way I can speed up my connection? Is there a dialup program that goes higher than that?
