two simultaneous connections on one line

Does anyone know if it's possible to connect to two adsl-accounts at the same time on one dsl- line? Would you need to modems or is there a certain hardware setup that would be capable of doing so? And if that would succeed would the computer connected to the two lines combine the upload and download speed? It's a purely hypothetical situation but I'd really like to know if that's possible.

There is the "bonding" driver in the kernel BUT it requires the same type of driver to exist on the other side of the network connection. So, if you have two network cards, two cable modems and a computer on the other side supporting the same protocol, yes it is doable. Otherwise, I really don't know, don't have the experience with it.
