Two network cards on one linux machine
Hello to all,
I have Red Hat linux machine (version 9) with two network cards. One is onboard (integrated) LAN card and it is labeled as eth0 in the system. Now I want to use other network card to connect this machine to other network. Problem is that I'm not sure how to configure this card or at least to know if the system can see it.
I tried to use linuxconf tool to set up network card, but not really sure how to proceed. I have test my onboard lan with my laptop abd crossover cable and they can ping each other, but if I connect crossover cable to the UTP port on PCI NIC, ping is not working indicating that link is down.
How to set up the second NIC?
Is it eth1, or ?
For example,
onboard LAN is 10.0.0.1 with subnet mask 255.0.0.0
I want to set up other NIC as 192.168.0.1 with 255.255.255.0
How to do this in red hat linux 9 (without GUI)?
I need to do everything in console/terminal mode, because this is industrial computer and GUI is disabled or not installed.
Thank you
