two ISPs, two NICs, one download, one upload

Hey all,

Currently in my new townhouse, I have two ISP's, one is cable internet and the other is DSL. Uploads on either service are very slow, but when I upload using cable, it slows down the network to a crawl, and my roommates get angry. The DSL service is currently not being used, so I have free reign over it.

I'd like to use two NICs in my Slack 9.0 system, one for cable and one for DSL. I'd like to set it up so I can download using cable and upload using DSL. Is this possible? How would I go about setting up the eth0/eth1 interfaces to support this?

Thanks,

~icy

Hi,

If you have the same ISP for DSL and cable: that's possible (for your ISP because it's up your ISP to do the work)... If not, I think that's impossible.
I explain: when you request a web site, you send/receive packets to establish a connection so you use both upload and download link... So upload and download link must have the same IP unless a router (locate at a node betwen DSL and cable) aware of this network topology do the work.
Hope this help,

Oliv'
