Exclamation Two ADSL Connections Multiplication or Failover

Hi All,

I've been looking for a way, or may be some kind of software, to do one of two scenarios:

1) Multiply 2 ADSL connections bandwidth, so I get a bandwidth equals to the summation of the two lines bandwidth.

2) Use one line as a backup of the other, thus, I connect using one connection and when it goes down, the other connection is put in use automatically, and when the first one comes back to work, it is also automatically put to work.

Obviously, the first scenario is much more preferred, and please note that I don't want to buy a two-lines ADSL router, if this can be done, it has to be done without purchasing an extra device, and this is to reduce the coast. So, is there a software or some kind of server configuration that can do this?

If scenario(1) is inapplicable, I'd like to go for the second one, so please, provide me with a some how detailed howto in order to get this done.

I don't know what kind of information you will need to help me, but I can say that I'm using a Centos 5 Linux on a 64-bit Intel processor with 1GB RAM. I have two ADSL lines, one with 2Mbps bandwidth and the other is 1Mbps. The first one has a static IP from my ISP, and the other don't.

Any help is highly appreciated,
Thanx

Exclamation Problem Not Solved

Thanks acid_kewpie, but non of the links you pointed me to view has answer to my question, each thread is either a some way far away from my goals or it is a non-solved thread . Though I reviewed them before I posted mine.

Thanx for response, I really appreciate it, and I'm looking for a further more help.

ok, well the answer is to read chapter 4 of lartc.org. that describes exactly what you want. just because the OP's don't bother saying that they got it working, doesn't mean the information is any less valid.
