Tutorials: Creating a dial-up Bulletin Board Service / Mailbox
Hello everyone from Germany,
in the age of broadband Internet this may seem like an odd question but I was wondering if there are still tutorials for setting up an "old-school" bulletin board service (BBS). I bought my first modem (28.8) in 1997 and mainly used AOL to browse the web but also connected to a local BBS. I am assuming that creating a BBS is a lot different that HTML-coding but I am very keen on learning on how this has been done. Could you point me in the right direction on setting up something like this? Regards, Mkd75 |
Now that's a blast from the past, its been nearly 20 years ago I set up a BBS :)
About your question: Have you searched the net? Out of interest I did a quick search and many sites are out there that deal with BBS's and how to set one up (lot of windows stuff, but Unix/Linux entries are also present). Be aware that some use older techniques (including BBS based on telnet) which might not be considered save in this day and age. |
