tulip driver ok on Slackware 7.1 but not 9.1

I have used Slackware 7.1 for a few months with no network problems. Upgrade to 9.1 and can't get network to connect. Went back to 8.1 and still no connection. Have used netconfig to DHCP which worked with 7.1 without luck and have changed to static IP as per some postings I have read and no luck. ISP is Roadrunner and NIC is Linksys LNE100. The card is grabbing IRQ 11 no problem and tulip drivers seem to load, but cannot find a DHCP to connect to. Linksys routers in wired and hard wired to wireless versions also tried to no avail. Reinstalled 7.1 and works fine again, as well as windows dual boot. Is there some easy way to install the tulip driver from 7.1 into 8.1, or better yet get the tulip driver in 8.1 to set up as easily as it does in 7.1. Would really appreciate any assistance.

My Problem is . . .

I'm trying to setup a router, so I have three different cards in the PC. I found out that two of my cards are trying to use IRQ11. Tulip find my LNE100, but when I tried to set it up an ip through IFCONFIG, no joy. SOOO . . . next I'll change the ROM on my LNE100 to different IRQ.

I had no probs getting Slack 9.1 to use the same Network card.....
Linksys LNE100TX(v.5)
I can connect to windows box(98se) via Samba
and to a Slackware 9 box via NFS

just need to enable driver in the /etc/rc.d/rc.modules script
and to make sure tulip driver is supported as a MODULE in the
kernel. Re-compile kernel if needed!!

You know what...(s9.1)

I couldn't load the eth module either(which is strange because I was browsing the internet, everything was working fine then pop...no net connection)...I wasn't served with an ip from the router, and I couldn't ping the network. Guess what? My realtk eth card died! No lights were lit...after 5 yrs. of dutiful service!

So, my problem had nothing to do with tulip (or did it?). if you haven't been to the tulip website it's very informative.

uhm happy holidays
