Trying to use 2 different ISP's at the same time... 1 wireless and 1 wired. any help?

Hey guys/gals,

I'm trying to set up my Mandriva box to use 2 internet connections at the same time. basically, i got a second line to use specifically for rsync, rtorrent, and ssh, and the other one is for regular use. i did this because i'm tired of my connection lagging (while browsing) when i run rsync or have an x session forwarded over ssh.

I've tried to find out how to do this via google and have come up with a few things that look promising, but i'm still confused. can anyone give me an idea of how to implement this?

I solved p2p laggin with by "stopping p2p traffic" when browsing script

I believe it's called multihoming and should be done in cases of "100% uptime internet need"
However this may help a bit if you are familiar with iptables

You need to set up layer 7+ routing locally or on a VM or other dedicated box.

This is possible

There are several ways to achieve this depending on your setup.

Take a look at PFSense which is a BSD based router / firewall appliance.

a "Highly flexible policy routing possible by selecting gateway on a per-rule basis (for load balancing, failover, multiple WAN, etc.)"

So you can set up rules for specific types of traffic, or specific ports. It is very flexible, rock stable and quite secure.

I may be able to give more details, but I would need to know more about your exact situation. Are rsync and ssh client on the same machine? Do you want to limit traffic to one WAN for one workstation???

I am not real familiar with iptables because BSD uses PF (packet Filter) and I always use BSD for routers and firewalls.
