Trouble setting up internet with ADSL

I really need some help, Im trying to setup my internet connection on Linux. Im using ADSL, and my distro is Vector Linux (developed from Slackware 2.4.2). I setup netconfig, and then i go to sbin/adsl-setup and run that and it I suppose sets me up correctly, but when I type adsl-start, I cant connect and get timed out.

I really need some help (yes Im a newbie to linux, and thats why Im asking)

hi

how do you connect.is it thru a ethernet card or thru a special dsl modem. let me know the exact error you get

Well I setup everything according to what I know, which is:

I setup NetConfig
Setup ADSL-Setup

And tried connecting, but I keep getting timedout.

I connect through an ethernet card, with DHCP.
