Hi everybody.
I know this is a noob question, but i hope you can help me.
Let say I have a linux router box sharing the internet connection. Iptraf is logging the whole traffic through the router. Now I'm wondering what would happen if one of the clients create a new network and share the internet connection to other clients (based on the original linux internet).
Will iptraf log the clients traffic of the second network? I mean logging packets and mac addresses.
Is the client that created the new network performing nat, or is it acting as a router for that new network? As long as the gateway for that new network is forwading traffic to the internet through the original gateway for the old network, iptraf should log the data on the original gateway.

Thanks for answer! I dont get the difference. All this is an hypothetical situation, ok?
What if the client is performing nat? The original iptraf should log the new clients mac addresses?
Maybe it's my lack of english. I only need to know if my original iptraf can log everything (i'm interested in mac addresses) or there is a way to hide traffic.
