tool to gather network information

hi there,

i'm looking for a tool to gather network information from all the machines on the network, most importantly (host name, IP address, MAC address).

it would be great if it was a command line tool.

can anyone suggest one?

Since you want a command line tool, I think nmap is what you're looking for.
