TightVNC problem
I want to get TightVNC up and running so I can view my Linux computer's x-windows output on my Windows computer's monitor. I get an SSH connection going, type "vncserver :1" on Linux, and click the icon on Windows. Shouldn't that work? It doesn't. What am I doing wrong?

no that shouldn't work. on a real OS like Linux vnc will create it's own private X server that you can view view the vnc viewer remotely. under a pretend OS like windows this is not possible so all it can do is steal screenshots from the only display. It *might* be possible to do this under linux too, but this is not what should acutally happen. check through the docs for vnc if that is what you want to happen
