Three Network Cards in Machine

I'm really just trying to give my self something to do. I'm I'm going to add the evil word "newb" in this post.

How do you test to see what network cards are eth1 eth2 qnd eth3.

All three have different chipsets.

Look in hwconf file depending on your system if you have one. In redhat it's located in /etc/sysconfig dir.

Debian Machine

I am a new user running debian testing. I will look for said file.

My hwconf file does not indicate which ethx.

Look at the /etc/modules.conf file. Since they are all different chipsets you should have an alias ethx with a network module. Post the file if you need more help.

Usually the first PCI network card found first i.e closest to the video card slot will be eth0 and the integrated network adapter if any will be last i.e. eth3 in your case.
