The seemingly unsolvable problem of slow Samba PDC
Ok, this has bugged me for the past week since I made my Samba box a PDC at home.
The problem is the common complaint of extremely slow response on XP Pro machines when logged on to the domain.
At first I found that disabling webclient service seemed to work for a lot of people. Well, not for me!!
Then there's the problem of NIC settings. Well, I have set my client NIC to 100 Full Duplex, and even bought a 32-bit PCMCIA NIC for the laptop running Samba. ethtool reported 100 Full Duplex on that card to.
Alas, none of the above fixed the problem!! I have disabled roaming profiles, and that didn't help.
Surely someone must have a solution to this?? Please? Before I start tearing my (or someone else's) hair out!!
