Lightbulb The Missing Hub Port

Dont you love it when you realise you outgrown the hub you thought
would always have more ports than you really need ?
Of course join my crowd ...

I got this 5 port hub for the LAN ( neat-o ) and i need to put another
computer on the Internet soon.having burned the budget for computing
and having plenty of network cards i added a network card to the
firewall gateway ( Running RH linux v 9.0 and Firestarter firewall )
And thought i could link the new computer to that one ..

But im missing something here..
I have given the card in the comp the third available address
192.168.0.3
I have given the new comp 192.168.0.15
( part of the scheme is to give the nics in the gateway 192.168.0.X
and 192.168.0.1X to the machines connected to the hub )

Nice but it dont work.. I am missing something .. though i dont know what ( apart from brains it seems 8)

Ideas suggestions ? ( apart from a psychiatrist and a new hub ) ?

Thanks

Fuzzy

Doun't use the same subnet for 2 nics in one machine if they are on different LANS. This only confuses your routing. Give the second nic and the other PC a different subnet. Also make sure you have a crossover cable not straight through.
