tftpd server not transferring files from LAN.

Hello,

I have tftpd installed in ubuntu*. I have a linux wireless board connected via LAN. It uses tftp to get the firmware image.

When I connect and ping the ubuntu machine, it says it is alive. However, when I do "tftp kernel.img", it does not load the image.

I have tftpd restarted several times in ubuntu. I did tftp localhost and did "tftp> get kernel.img" and it gets the file from the /var/lib/tftpboot folder correctly. So the server is working. The network is working (since they ping fine). I checked the firewall and there is none. So WHY WOULD THE TFTP NOT WORK! .

Please let me know if you could guess anything.

Thanks a lot!
Ashok

*installed in Virtual box on Macbook AIR. LAN connected via thunderbolt.

I might be missing something, but I don't think
Code:
tftp kernel.img
would work. According to the manpage don't you have to say something like:
Code:
tftp 192.168.2.130 -c get kernel.img

I meant

tftp localhost
tftp> get kernel.uimg

which is the same as your commands.

Oh, alright. Hmm, is tftp on the board trying to connect to the right port on tftpd on your Ubuntu machine?

Firewalls may be part of the cause.

Why would you connect to localhost?

Might have to connect to a user that has permissions. tftp user@123.45.678
