tftpd pxe-01 file not found on terminal

ive been trying to get a simple terminal services set up between my computer and a pxe enabled client. i have installed a dhcp server, a tftpd server and ltsp 4.1
i can get the client as far as obtaining an ip address and recognising the dhcp server ie it displays

client IP 192.160.0.5 mask 255.255.255.0 DHCP IP 192.168.0.1
gateway 192.168.0.1

then it goes
tftpd.
pxe-01 file not found
and then goes on to get the boot failure insert system disk..interestingly if i turn on shorewall then it goes
tftpd............tftpd open timeout
tftpd...

and loops.

i have moved the pxelinux.0 file to the /tftpboot directory and this is set in my dhcpd.conf under the clients ip and mac address ie

mac add 23423809342(an example!)
ip add 192.168.0.5
filename "/tftpdboot"

i have tried many configurations of this file to get it to work..setting it to look at the kernal img..the pxelinux.0 file..and just the directory..the dir has been chmodded to 0777

i checked /etc/xined.d/tftpd and that seems to be standard with what i can find on the net

i also looked at etc/xinetd.conf and inserted the line i found on the net

tftp dgram udp wait root /usr/libexec/tftpd tftpd -s /tftpboot

i have been doing this on my mandrake 10.0 official install after my cluster knoppix cd stopped dhcp broadcasting.. the kernel is 2.6.3-7 and i also have a openmosix kernel that is 2.4.24 which i have been running when configuring it.

any help would be gratefully appreciated

The filename dhcpd paramater should read:
/tftpdboot/pxelinux.0
-or if tftpd is chrooted-
pxelinux.0

But perhaps you PXE network card is borked, try copying the file to pxe-01. You can also run the tftp program yourself and try to get the file.

Worst comes to worst, fire up ethereal and sniff the traffic. That's what I had to do. (totally had a misspelling)

shorewall probably configures it that tftp traffic just gets dropped. You need to add a specific rule for that.

Have fun,
chris
