I believe you are trying to RDP (remote desktop) into windows from your linux desktop? There are various tools for that, which you may install on your Linux desktop:
Well, now I have a telnet server installed on my Linux(RHEL5) machine and I want to connect to my Windows 2003 machine, but when i say 'telnet fnserver'(fnserver-name of my windows machine), I get the message 'Unable to connect to remote host. Connection refused'. Do i need something to be installed on my Windows machine so that the Linux machine can communicate with it.
If you want to telnet into the Windows machine then, yes, of course, the Windows machine needs to be running a telnet daemon. Of course I have no idea why you would want to do that.
My firewall is disabled in windows. And please let me know where do i find the telnet daemon for windows.
The reason i need this is, I want to know if my Windows and Linux machines can communicate with each other. They do ping with each other, but I am unable to open an application deployed on my Linux machine from Windows using the URL.
