Question tcp socket monitoring

on one server i have an application that listens on port 8005. i want to setup something that tries to connect to that port every minute. if it cannot establigh a connection to that port it needs to execute a script.

any ideas how i can achieve this?

thanks

Hello,
I just designed a little program to test this connection.... I also included a little sh script as an example on how to use it.... It is available at
www.genieciel.com/downloads/portChecker.tgz
Tell me if it was what you wanted...

By the way, sources are included :-)
