Thumbs up Tcp LOw Latency Problem


Hello all Linux network administrator, i would like to speed up my internet connection. I would like to know whether enable the tcp low latency will help.

My internet connection speed is 1MBps. I using ADSL modem.

Your opinion is greatly appreciated by me and others.

Reducing latency will not significant speed up your connection - if by speed up you mean increasing the amount of data sent/received per unit time. Reducing latency will make the connection feel more responsive. This makes low latency useful for gaming, but it won't download web pages any faster.

The only method is the same for all OS: compression. If you compress the data, you have less data to send. Doing this costs you CPU resource.

There are no other ways to to this. If you need a faster connection, see what your options are from other Internet Service Providers in your area.

Changing the tcp default window size? Using Selective Ack? Changing the MTU? .. depends..
All this should be in by default with linux 2.6.x

Anyway, 1Mbps is not really worth accelerating..
