Switching can be done with Linux ???????


Hi

Is there any way we can make linux box as a Transparent switch ?

Like we can use add on(2 or 3 ) network interface card

it has to do switching function ????

You want to be able to plug multiple machines into a linux box in leu of using a HW switch?
Yes you can.

You'll want to work out exactly what you want to do, and configure an appropriate server. You'll want DHCP for a start... though you could just configure a totally static net.

Basically what i need is

I need to make the linux box as the swich with 4 nic cards

I will put wan interface and lan interface and other interfaces

also needs to be plugin in the box

And i need to install snort in that to check every packets

in that
