Not sure, but I'm pretty sure Suse uses CUPS -

http://www.cups.org/

You can probably find help there.

which version of suse?. if 8.2, and your network is configured properly, start yast2, select >hardware>printer, let it attempt to auto detect, select configure, select 'show more connection types', select 'direct TCP port printing', select 'lookup' it will display the addresses of your network printers, OR, instead of direct TCP port printing, select SMB printing, it will ask if you want to install smb client if you dont already have it installed, then, select 'lookup' again select your printers' address, fill in the user/password/name for remote queue, etc.

Hi sorry to drop in on an existing thread but I have a very similar problem.

I am running Suse 8.1 and I have set up a connection with a win XP box. There is an Epson CX3200 connected to the winbox. Using YaST I have found my printer on the other machine thru SMB printing - it's found the IP address and the printers remote queue. I put in the user name for the administrator of the other machine - and used the test button - fine so far. But when I try to print a test page or anything else for that matter the file just goes into the print queue on the linux box and just sits there until I delete it. Any ideas?
