Yes i was wondering how can i set a static ip when ever i do it with yast it does not work, it only seems to work on dhcp. Also they say something like list the defualt gateway but theres no spot for it. (which is annoying that the say "your subnetmask and (optional) your default gateway") but like i said there only ip and subnet no gateway which i know it would work once i input the gateway ip. but any way any help would be nice is there a consoule cmd i can use? If so which one.

You don't mention which suse version, this is how it's done in 9.X

Yast - > Network Devices -> Network Card
Goto the already configured devices -> Change -> choose card -> edit

The 'static' option can be found and changed here.

Goto 'routing' to enter gateway.
