SuSE 9 and DSL?

Hiya! I am using SuSE Linux 9 Pro. I want to get rid of 56k and go DSL.

What should I be on the lookout for?

(I am avoiding cable modems because of the extremely high cost involved, $80/mo in my area.)

My h/w:

SuSE 9 Pro w/kernel kernel-source-2.4.21-99 (this doesn't look right...)
Abit NF7 mobo (internal sound & NIC disabled)
1GB RAM
SB Audigy sound
3com 3c905b-tx NIC
Radeon 9800 Pro video (will swap back to nvidia 4600 if I can't get 3D to work.)

whatever you do, stay away from usb modems!! i'm having a headache over one of them at the moment!

To my knowlege, there are NO USB modems supported by SuSE 9.0. In another words, get a USR 5610 like I finally did for dial up! For DSL, all you need is an ethernet card. The provider should give you the rest. http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/DSL-HOWTO/...on.html#WIRING
