Cool SuSE 9.3 pere to peer How to

Does anyone know of a "How To" for setting up a peer to peer LAN with SuSE 9.3.

I have a laptop and a desktop that access the internet via a LinkSys router.

One PC has a printer and the other has a scanner and I would like to network them together to share the printer and scanner as well as files
and CDROM and CDRECORDER.

THX!

Read the SuSE9.3 chapters regarding networking and modify the relevant files in /etc, then post questions. Your queston assumes someone has hours to spend working for you for free to show you how to do this.

i agree with mazinoz .. but am slighlty drunk so i'll give you afreebee..
you need to run something called "samba" .. let's a linux machine become one of the guys/gals/dolls on the windoz network .. i am not sure about sharing a scanner . .but printers and other stuff is easy enough.

Thumbs down

Gee - thanks for the great help - I have actually looked in several books on linux spent many hours trying to configure Samba as well as configure my network via YaST and the Control Center.
I have also Googled the topic to get as much info as possibal but what I found was not really helpful. I have no idea where the SuSE 9.3 chapters you are refering to are found or even what you are refering to.

I had the same experience when I had issues with my CD devices not mounting after I installed CrossOffice on my system - I literally spent weeks researching etc/fstab and "mounting" nothing was exactly like my particular system but I finally solved the problem on my own but it was painful and time consuming. I got no useful help on this forum.

Don't bother to reply - your flip and condesending attitudes will ensure I never come back to this forum.

The book I was referring to is the large one called Administration Guide. This is also available
in YaST, YOU. It also points you to further information.
