I started a thread earlier but it got confused and i thought i could straighten things up if i started over.
Problem: I can't ping XP from SUSE, or connect to internet on SUSE
I have a Windows XP box, a 4 port router, a suse 9.2 box , and an Xbox. The XP machine uses a cellphone with usb cable to connect to the internet. The cellphone i don't think is a part of my problem at all, it appears just like a normal modem or NIC would.
I have tried the following"
1) Everything setup with DHCP through the router. ICS turned on in XP
Result: no internet connection on suse and i can't ping XP from suse, but i can ping SUSE from XP, and every other possible direction.

I have the DNS servers on suse set up to the cellphone's dns server.
AND , everything is connected to a LAN port on the router i didn't think i could use the WAN port since i dont have a dsl modem or anything.
Thanks in advance.
The XP box is running SP2 as well, i think that might have something to do with why i can't get a response when i ping it from SUSE.
Actually, the firewall in XP cannot be responsible for the routing problem.
Check your gateway settings on Suse.
If you are really hardcore I woud recommend that you install ethereal on the susebox (should be on the CD/DVD) and look at what's happening.
