SUSE 9.1 on Dell Latitude D610, network card issue

hey all, i just put SUSE's 9.1 on my Dell Latitude D610 laptop, when i try to set up the network card, it just doesn't work. Now i am behind a linksys router, and the house network is wired. I just cant figure out why its not working. Anyone with any input, would be great thanks

HEY! i have the same laptop..

and Hey i had the same problems..

My distro is suse 10. If u can UPGRADE, then UPGRADE!!!! cause suse 10 comes with drivers... and it sorta can handle wifi better.

Question:
Can SUSE see the wireless card? (you can do this by either click on yast2 and looking in network device > network card and seeing if it sees the intel ABG card, or going into the console and seeing there}

gooroo363 01-04-2006 12:54 PM

i dont know which one its seeing,

Network card to configure

-ATI Ethernet controler
-Other (not detected)

i just dont know what to do anymore

... ATI Ethernet controller ?

hmm i dont know what that is.. mine says somethin different...
First Question.. Can you download SUSE 10? (it is the latest version of suse)
If you install SuSE 10 it will solve that problem. SuSE 10 came out with the newest drivers for that intel wireless card... It will also detect the correct driver for the gigabit Network card...

I seem to recall 9.1 worked on my D600 so it should work on your 610, although I'm surprised it showed up as ATI eth, mines got a Broadcom GigE and I thought all the 6xx range were pretty much the same except for cpu speed & HDD size.

You should seriously think about 10.0 though, there have been major improvements through the last couple of vers.
