I have successfuly setup my windows shared printer in Suse 10 RC1. I can print a test page to the windows printer, and I can even print from Open Office (in Suse). But nothing I print from Firefox (in Suse) makes it to the printer. Neither the Suse printer job manager shows a pending print job, nor the windows print manager. Isn't that wierd that some programs can print and other can't?
I haven't messed with the new Suse RC1, but it's not too unusual really. When you click print in Firefox, click the Properties button next to selected printer and reply here with what is in the Print Command line .
Yes. I have an Epson C60 hooked up to a Windows XP box. The Windows XP box has the printer shared. From my Linux box I installed the Epson printer. And from Linux I can print to the Epson from Open Office. But I cannot print to the Epson from Firefox. So wierd.
It seems I can print from all KDE applications. I have tried Kontact, Konsole, Konqueror and print from all of those. However I could not print from the Gimp. So far neither Firefox nor the Gimp can print.
Distribution: SuSE 9.0, Red Hat 9.0, Fedora core 1
Yeah I am also facing the same problem, I am running SuSE 9.0 and printer is under WinXP. Everytime I try to connect it gives an error of wrong queue. Though I locate it through network and it selects "print$" as a queue name.
I simply used the KDE Print Control Panel in Administrator mode. It used a wizard which I found easy enough to use. I selected to use a SMB Windows Printer, then browsed the network to find, and printed a test page and click finish.
I have yet to figure out how to share a windows. printer with suse linux 10. do I need samba? Can I print directly to a printer without samba? my suse 10 dvd is corrupted, so I am waiting for wiley to send me another. can anyone give me detailed instructions on how to do this? I am having trouble figuring out how & where to type commands also. Please advise.
in answer to bungee yes you do need samba should have been installed by default with suse 10.0 has anybody got a solution to the problem of firefox not printing yet??? I am having this problem too and it is driving me batty!!!!
rc1 = Release Candidate 1 (Pre release software for testing unless you are prepared fpr some bugs it is best not to use this) As far as installing files when you down load them what type of files are we talking about? RPMs or TARBALLs?
