Question subnet boundary address and routers

Hi all,

lower boundary of a typical IPV4 subnet:- 192.168.75.0
upper nw boundary of a typical IPV4 subnet:- 192.168.75.255

I have read that Routers are typically configured at lower boundary + 1 or upper boundary -1

why this convention is followed ?

Is there any particular reason for it ?

because it's a simple place to put the default gateway. it's easy to guess, and makes sense. The only IP address you really need to know in your subnet is how to get out of that subnet, so making it one of those IP's seems a pretty obvious choice.
