Subinterfaces reliable?

Hi all.

I need to configure some subinterfaces in some centos/debian boxes. these are gonna be servers in productions, 7x24. I configured some subinterfaces in a test server, no issues, easy to configure.

My question is, are those configurations stable, safe, reliable?

I won't like to have some issues in the future with the subinterfaces and network connection. The application running depend on the network interfaces. if we lost connection we lost money and the clients lost money as well.

thanks

You mean eth0:0 ?

We are using these on our firewalls, and haven't had any issues the last two years.

If you have configured them properly then they are definitely much stable. Have you read this before configuring them?

If you want them on debian or ubuntu

My personal experience, If you are configuring them in CentOS then they are much reliable.
