Question struggling to port forward apache 1.3

Hi, I am not sure if this is the right place for this message, sorry if it is in the wrong place, I am new here.

Let me explain my situation: I do a bit of php development work but I have to do it from multiple locations, and I study Software Engineering at university. We do a lot of group projects, and it is really annoying if you want to work on part of the project from home, but the code is saved in somebody else's folder on the AFS system we have, because obviously, for security reasons, there is no trivial way to access each other's files. So I decided to host a CVS on my server (which originally was just meant to be an internal server for my home network, which is behind a NAT router), so that we could all access the code wherever and whenever we wanted to. That was fine, I set up port forwarding on my router to send port 3000 to 22 on my internal machine and it all works fine. I have tested this by logging into my employer's server via ssh and then logging into my server (via ssh again, as CVS works over ssh) from there. I have a dynamic ip, but I set a cron job to poll my employer's server, which has a script which gives me a sub-domain of their domain, which always points to my router. It doesn't resolve from my employer's server, but if I ping it from any other pc it is fine.

Enter my big fat problem: It occured to me that it would be good to see my webserver (Apache 1.3) from outside as well as it is a crucial part of my php development setup, but it won't show itself to the outside world. I have set it to respond to port 81 because my router's administration utility responds on port 80, and I have forwarded port 81 on the router to port 81 on the server. This works just fine on my LAN, but when I try a wget from my employer's server it won't work ( I use the ip address rather than the domain), it just keeps telling me that the connection timed out.

[CODE]
wget URL_REMOVED
--16:49:35-- URL_REMOVED
=> `index.html'
Connecting to 222.153.45.7:81... failed: Connection timed out.
Retrying.
[CODE]

I am guessing that it is a problem with my httpd.conf settings. I have a standard setup (no vhosts or anything), except I have changed Port to 81 in the Main server settings section.

I would be really appreciative of any help you could give me.

Regards,

Guy.
