Strange MAC add on Gigabyte GA-M61VME-S2 onboard card

I have a Gigabyte motherboard with a nVidia MCP61 onboard ethernet interface, i have installed Debian Etch 4.0r1 with kernel 2.6.18.5.amd64, procesor is a AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+.

I get a strange MAC address starting with 72:CC:08, and i am almost sure this is not the real MAC address, as i got a different one with a newer (i think it was 2.6.24) kernel.

Other than that, the card seems to be working fine... but i was wondering why do i get a different MAC address.
