Strange Identd Responses

I have been having trouble with my network for some time now and this is probaly the strangest thing yet.

When I telnet to an IRC server, it is possible to get an identd response from me. I've even had someone send the identd information manually to me and he managed to get the respone.

However, if I use an IRC client such as IRSSI or X-Chat, the idend never responds.

Why is this the case? It is very confusing. =(
