Strange Apache Webserver Behavior
My problem is that I have an Apache Webserver installed on a Debian target.
The Document Directory is set to
/var/www
So I place an index.html into that directory
From a web browser I do the ole
(i can't list the stupid line because this site thinks I am spamming)
but basically if I point my browser to the device in question I get a Debian-Apache Welcome screen...
I search around and find that this welcome screen is intro.html in the
/usr/share/doc/apache
directory.
Ok, so somehow Apache totally ignored my index.html in /var/www and ended up way inside this other directory and displayed an intro.html.
In my httpd.conf I have
Alias /doc/ /usr/share/doc/
<Location /doc>
order deny,allow
deny from all
allow from 127.0.0.0/255.0.0.0
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
</Location>
Which allows anything /doc to go to near this location...
but how did it end up a whole directory below this and display intro.html instead of index.html.
How did it do this?
On a side note, if I explicitly direct the line to index.html I get the web page that I wanted, the index.html in the /var/www directory.
I would like to know how this behavior comes about.
