still cant access linux from window

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi,
I am trying to access linux share file from window. But it is not working. I able to see linux box from neighbourhood but cant enter into it. Window return "\\linuxserver is not accessible" Why?

I have user account in linux box n samba which same as window user login.
I able to smbclient \\linuxserver\sharefolder -U mywinxp and go to smb: > prompt.
I also able to access winxp share folder from linuxbox.
I set encryt password = yes
I tried to map drive from winxp to linux folder with \\linuxserver\sharefolder or \\192.168.0.2\sharefolder either.

Any thing i missup? Samba configuration mistake or network problem?

Pls advise.

The problem i s your firewall

set your firewall to none and try then.

Have you set password for the chared folder?

1. Create a separate password file for Samba. To create one based on your existing /etc/passwd file, at a shell prompt, type the following command:
cat /etc/passwd | mksmbpasswd.sh > /etc/samba/smbpasswd

2. Change the permissions of the Samba password file so that only root has read and write permissions:
chmod 600 /etc/samba/smbpasswd
#
The script does not copy user passwords to the new file. To set each Samba user's password, use the command (replace username with each user's username):
smbpasswd higate
ex.
smbpasswd username
New SMB password:
Retype new SMB password:
Note the charters dont shows when typing.

3. A Samba user account will not be active until a Samba password is set for it.
Encrypted passwords must be enabled in the Samba configuration file. In the file smb.conf, verify that the following lines are not commented out:
encrypt password = yes
smb passwd file = /etc/samba/smbpasswd
4. Make sure the smb service is started by typing the command service smb restart at a shell prompt.

If still problems, post your smb.conf. I guess there's something wrong with it.
